I’ll admit it, I’m political. I like to read things that might help me understand the “why,” things that might help inform my opinions on the swirling mess that sometimes threatens to engulf us all. Some of my favorite authors are Douglas Blackmon, Naomi Klein, Matt Taibi, David Stuckler, Henry George, Michael Lewis, George Lakoff, Jonathan Tepper and, yes, Barack Obama.

This blog isn’t intended to be self-righteous—although it might come off that way from time to time—but rather fact-based opinion. I make mistakes, just like everyone else, and when I do, you can count on me to do my best to take hat in hand and admit my misjudgment. This is not a Walter Cronkite-style, milquetoast monologue, but neither is it an unhinged Alex Jones psycho rant intended only to incite and inflame. It’s a discussion that you can choose to participate in or ignore. With any luck, and a bit of tolerance and mutual respect, we can begin to make sense of the nonstop torrent of information—and disinformation—that comprises our modern 24-hour news cycle.
